Déjà Dream: Just Another (Pictorial) Dream Review — Part Ninefeatured
We woke up at 8:00 am for our last day at sea, threw on our swimsuits and headed up to Lido for a quick breakfast so we could get out on deck quickly to find some good chairs to enjoy the gorgeous weather.
We quickly found some chairs on deck 11 and stayed out until nearly noon. Our vacations are so active that we often come home more exhausted than we were when we left and I’m always left saying that I need a vacation to rest up from my vacation. Sometimes, it’s just the few hours spent up on deck and soaking up the warmth that are exactly what we need to rest up.
Around noon, they put out the Chocolate Extravaganza in the Lido restaurant, but the offerings were the same as they always are and we wanted some more traditional fare, so I snapped some pictures and we went off in search of lunch elsewhere.
We contemplated grabbing some salads from the lanai, but we ultimately ended up grabbing lunch in the main dining room because, well, that sundae is *so* good!
Southwestern Chicken Caesar Salad
We were going back to the room in an elevator packed so tightly that there was literally no space to do anything but breathe and two people on deck 8 would not let our elevator pass and wait for the next one (…or walk up…) to deck 10 because two elevators had already passed them. It’s the middle of the day on a sea day. I promise all of you that you aren’t missing anything waiting a few minutes for an elevator. Or walking forward/aft to other elevators. Or, you know, taking the stairs. If it’s up less than three or down period, we’re probably taking the stairs just to avoid the elevators because they were so crowded all week. Anyways, we changed into our swimsuits and went out to the lanai to hot tub. The water was nice and warm…much cooler than it was yesterday in Costa Maya…and Stephanie ordered us a round of drinks to enjoy while we relaxed.
I was getting super sunburned, so I headed back in to start packing for a bit before we had to get ready for our last tea time.
We walked around the ship a bit and people watched in the atrium before heading back to the room to pack. We ended up skipping the Fond Farewell party because the free drinks had been shitty at the other events this week and much like everything else, we were quickly realizing, nothing really changes and so there was nothing really fun or interesting about sickeningly sweet free fruit punch or cheap wine. Besides, packing now meant less to do later. And we sat out on the balcony for a bit, too…and found a new use for our towel clips.
We headed down to the lanai, where they were having drink specials. Every night, they’d have a drink special (tonight, they were mojitos) and a snack pairing. The snacks are free to take, even if you aren’t partaking in the drink special…we just didn’t realize that until the last night of the cruise.
And after drinks? It was dinner time!
Grilled Portabello Mushroom and Handpicked Mesclun Lettuce (yum…seriously)
Tender Roasted Prime Rib of American Beef Au Jus
After dinner, we headed back to the room to finish packing and enjoy our last sunset on the balcony.
I headed to the Purser’s desk to settle my Sail and Sign account and I think, Platinum embarkation aside, the Platinum line at the Purser’s desk is my favorite perk. It saved me at least 20 minutes in line and let me get to the lounge for Battle of the Sexes and the Liars Club. The Liars Club is always one of my favorite activities but the words they used were ones we’ve seen them use on other cruises and this panel made us realize how we hadn’t seen half of this entertainment staff around the ship all cruise long. Oh well. I got my sun in. I climbed some ruins. The ship got from Point A to Points B, C, D and E before getting back to Point A on time and in one piece. Still a successful cruise in my books.
We sat and watched Bingo so we could keep our seats for the Legends show (which is also a show that could use a revamp because at this point, I could probably perform this entire show from start to finish on my own from memory).
And after the Legends show? We got our luggage out in the hallway and went to bed. The cruise was all but over, but we still had a bit of vacation left in us.
