Déjà Dream: Just Another (Pictorial) Dream Review — Part Onefeatured
Welcome to another abbreviated review where I post about a trip that I took a year ago. C’est la vie. Oh! Also! I ordered this mega awesome camcorder. But it’s back ordered. We’re gonna cut it close on this one. Cross your fingers for me. I really want to integrate video into these reviews. But…onto the show.
One plane ride (complete with a random extra special TSA check for *just* our flight), an all-female flight crew (lets hear it for the girls!) and a relatively smooth flight later and Mom and I were in Orlando. But not Stephanie. She was working. This has become a theme with us — Mom and I have much more vacation time than Stephanie does (I have unlimited PTO, Mom has, like, seven weeks and Stephanie has like…ten days) so we frequently fly out earlier than she does. I suppose that betrays the purpose of a family vacation if you’re spending *less* time together but…you know. Florida (always) beckons.
Back at Port Orleans Riverside for a quick pre-cruise Disney trip
A quick trip to Sassagoula for some beignets and to pick up the refillable mugs that were included in our dining plan.
A leisurely stroll along the POFQ grounds, enjoying the sun, the fresh air and the fact that I wasn’t at work
Followed by a leisurely boat ride to Downtown Disney for lunch
Mom insisted on Earl of Sandwich. Mom *always* insists on Earl of Sandwich.
And a cupcake coronet to split for dessert
And then we spent awhile shopping off our lunch energy
From Downtown Disney, we hopped on a bus to the first resort bus that came and went resort hopping. It’s fun, it’s free and it lets us feel out other resorts for future visits
While we were at the Coronado, we decided to grab a quick dinner at the Pepper Market. We were on the Quick Service Dining Plan for this trip and the Pepper Market, by far, has the best bang for your buck in terms of QS dining credits.
Chicken Fajita Platter w/ Rice and Beans
Stephanie’s flight was taking off while we had dinner and we had a couple hours to kill, so we hopped a bus over to Magic Kingdom, rode the monorail and did some shopping at our old stomping grounds, the Grand Floridian.
And then? We went to Wal-Mart to grab some last-minute travel stuffs that we forgot at home, we picked up Stephanie at the airport, we tried to get her some dinner at Downtown Disney (where, of course, Wolfgang Puck Express had closed ten minutes earlier) and ended up getting her some dinner at McDonalds (where, of course, they forgot my McNuggets) and we went back to the hotel to rest. And while Mom was sleeping and Stephanie and I were surfing the ~interwebz, we noticed some buggy things (read: millipedes) by the door. And then by the window. And then…we noticed them around the room. At 1:00 in the morning. Hotel management was relatively quick in moving us to another room…which also had millipedes. At that point, we demanded they move us to a higher floor, which they did. They moved us to a third-floor room…and they refunded most (if not all…it’s been awhile) of our hotel stay, which surprised us. We didn’t ask for a refund.
And then…we slept peacefully in a bug-free room.
